Responding to a recent posting by a local blog, a job developer at the WorkBC office in Oliver says they are not closing.

Kendi Clearwater from Open Door Group confirmed there is another contractor assuming WorkBC services starting April 1.

“Our office is not closing,” she said. “Services will still be available in Oliver and there will be expanded hours.”

She pointed out there are eight staff members currently providing the services in Oliver and Osoyoos. These staff members have been encouraged to apply with the new contractor. Clearwater said it is her understanding that the Osoyoos office will be closing on April. 1.

“I know all of us have felt honoured to serve our communities. There have been many great satisfactions in seeing people succeed.”

Clearwater noted that WorkBC will offer better services for people who need support to re-enter the workforce, access training opportunities and find jobs.

The services people count on will continue to be available, with enhanced supports that include: Help to find a better job if your hours are unstable, or if the work is not in line with your skills.

WorkBC employment services will be accessible from home computers or smart phones through the Online Employment Services (OES) portal located at
