The occupant of a tiny home in Oliver was displaced by fire at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday night.
Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham said the occupant had to leave due to smoke when the fire broke out in her cabin located between School Avenue and Church Avenue.
“We arrived on scene to some flame and smoke coming from outside the wall and siding. Firefighters pulled away some of the siding to get to where it was smoldering from and tried to extinguish what they could from there.”
Graham said they had to cut an access point inside the floor to get better access to the fire.
“The fire was extinguished fairly quickly and (we) kept the fire from spreading further beneath the home.”
He noted the walls had sawdust insulation.
The woman was assessed by ambulance personnel and later released from medical care.
The cause is still under investigation but it is suspected it was electrical in nature.
