It’s Orange Shirt Day on Sunday and students in Ms. Basso’s Grade 6 class at Oliver Elementary School participated by performing the Okanagan song before school started today.
Orange Shirt Day remember’s Canada’s residential school’s and commemorates the survivors. The Sept. 30 date was chosen because it is when aboriginal children were taken from their homes and families.
Students and staff at Southern Okanagan Secondary School also donned orange today.
