The Town of Oliver has expressed support for the City of Victoria’s concerns about the drug overdose problem.

Town council recently agreed to support two late UBCM resolutions that were not included in debate at the recent convention in Vancouver.

The first resolution is “safer drug supply to save lives,” which promotes access to safer drug alternatives in B.C.

The second resolution is “observed inhalation sites for overdose prevention.” This promotes access to observed consumption services as part of a holistic response to a “public health emergency.”

It is estimated that 42,200 people inject toxic substances in B.C.
