Special to the Chronicle

The Oliver Dance Studio (TDS) Performance Squad just returned from their last dance competition of the season.

The Great Canadian Dance Competition was held in Kelowna May 16 to 20 and 12 talented dancers from TDS brought home 13 high silver, 12 gold and six high gold awards.

The entire squad tap routine “Truckers” also placed 2nd in their category. The lyrical group’s routine “Into The Ocean” placed 3rd.

Modern group “Pitchfork Kids” placed 3rd in their category and our talented 15-year-old dancer/choreographer Kristina Decker also won a choreography award for this amazing dance.

Our lyrical duo Maddy Pearce and Jordyn Koteles not only received high gold for “Headlock,” they also placed 2nd in their category.

Last, but not least our “Classic Men” tap dynamos Sam Bailey and Joey Decker did it again: they received high gold and 3rd place keeping them only 0.7 per cent of a point from receiving diamond.

This is the last week of regular classes at TDS as all of our dancers, not only the performance squad, are gearing towards the biggest night of the year, the night they all worked hard for: the Year End Show.

To see our amazing dancers and support our studio you can purchase tickets online here. There will be two evening shows and one matinee.
