Suspect violent during arrest

RCMP report that a Penticton resident punched and kicked at officers during a recent arrest relating to a vehicle theft in Osoyoos.

On January 2 at 3:30 p.m., Penticton RCMP officers located a vehicle stolen from an Osoyoos location. Officers observed a man, later identified as Daniel Quinn, enter the vehicle and drive it a short distance before they identified themselves to him. 

The driver fled on foot through a neighbourhood near Lakeside Road and was pursued by officers.

“Quinn began to punch and kick at officers, who were eventually able to safely take him into custody,” said Cst. James Grandy. 

Quinn, 35, has been charged with possessing stolen property, possessing a controlled substance, failing to comply with his probation order, prohibited driving, assaulting and obstructing a peace officer.
