Come “Light The Flame.”
The flame is a local Vancouver phenomenon that is one of the hottest tickets in the city. Once a month a group of storytellers from any and all walks of life gather to tell stories to a hungry and eager audience.
The three keys to the evening’s premise are: the stories must be true; they must have happened to you; and they must be short – six to 10 minutes maximum. Stories range from funny to sweet to sentimental to tragic. The evening tends to move at a good clip and with 10 to 12 storytellers the night is soon done and heads and hearts are full.
Oliver is a community full of people with fascinating stories from their lives to regale us. We are going to light the flame here and hope to re-kindle the fire once a month. The location will be Medici’s Gelateria on Fairview Road and the entertainment will be you! We provide a chair, a microphone and an attentive audience.
The first night of the flame will be in February, but first, we need our line-up of tale spinners. Come see us at Medici’s or call 250-498-2228. Tell us about your idea for a story and become part of the line-up of sales clerks, welders, firemen, teachers, writers, politicians, librarians, students, leisure time professionals and you. Come see us. Call us. Join us. Tell your tale and “Light the Flame.”
One other thing: The Masters of Trivia returns for the 2013 season on Friday, Jan 25. Get your ticket and get your team registered quickly and have a run for “The Einstein Cup.”
What do you know? Bring it to Medici’s and win the cup!
