The RCMP will be interested in seeing the results of an investigation by BC Forests on the recent wildfire in Osoyoos.
On August 19 the Osoyoos RCMP were called by BC Forests to assist forestry personnel and the Osoyoos Fire Department with a large wildfire off Kruger Mountain Road near Old Richter Pass Road.
Initially, all of the houses along Kruger Mountain Road were evacuated as the fire spread down the hill. However, the efforts of workers including water bomber planes and helicopters were able to subdue the flames, resulting in residents being allowed to return to their homes.
The fire burned approximately 20 hectares of land and was believed to be human caused.
Lock it or lose it
The RCMP are once again reminding residents to lock up their valuables or forfeit them to thieves.
On August 20 at approximately 3 pm, Osoyoos police were advised that someone had broken out a window from a Blue Honda vehicle parked by Rattlesnake Canyon and had stolen a wallet and a purse.
Police advise visitors and locals to not leave valuables in vehicles or to ensure all items of value are kept out of site.
