Missing woman found with Cook
A 31-year-old Oliver woman who went missing earlier this month was found in Osoyoos – in the same house that fugitive Lloyd William Cook was hiding in.
Police report that Christal Chamberlain, seen in Williams Lake last month, was located with Cook unharmed. It was not explained why she was with the man.
Cook, a previous resident of Oliver, was recently found guilty of unlawful confinement and interference with a dead body in the 2000 death of his 13-year-old stepson Adam Scott Williams-Dudoward. He was found not guilty of manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death. Cook failed to appear in court on the day of the verdict in Prince George. Police finally tracked him to Osoyoos. Cook is expected to be sentenced soon.
Police seize 1000 pot plants
Police busted a 1000-plant marijuana grow operation in Willowbrook last week.
Oliver RCMP Sgt. Ken Harrington reported that members from Penticton, South Okanagan and regional detachments attended a Green Lake Road residence with a search warrant. Once there, they confirmed the theft of hydro and the pot plants.
Harrington said charges are pending against one adult male and one adult female, who are believed to be associated with the residence.
Unlicenced driver causes MVA
On February 13 the RCMP attended a two-vehicle MVA at the junction of Tucelnuit Drive and Highway 97. An 84-year-old unlicenced Oliver driver failed to stop at the stop sign and pulled out in front of a female Oliver resident who was driving north on the highway. Neither party sustained injuries. The unlicenced driver was issued a violation ticket for the offence.
