Warrant issued for manslaughter suspect

An arrest warrant has been issued for an Oliver man accused of manslaughter.

Lloyd William Cook, 54, failed to attend court in Prince George on January 31. He faces charges of manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death, unlawful confinement and interference with a dead body. The case relates to the 2000 death of Adam Scott Williams-Dudoward, who was 13 when he died.

Cook is described as a Caucasian male with brown hair and brown eyes. He stands five feet, eight inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds.

The judge was expected to reach a verdict on January 31, but Cook never showed up. It is believed he was having vehicle trouble that day. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment.

Woman trapped in vehicle

A female driver suffered non-life threatening injuries after her mini-van sheared a power pole and landed on its side near an orchard north of Oliver last week.

Fire department public relations officer Rob Graham said members had to use a pair of cutters to open up a section of the van’s roof to remove the occupant.

The accident occurred on Highway 97 just north of Ridgeview Road. The cause was not reported.
