There are no immediate plans to pave Camp McKinney Road from Oliver to Mount Baldy Ski Resort.

That’s the gist of a letter from Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena.

The minister wrote to Oliver Town council recently following a request to pave the road.

She noted the ministry weighs many factors when prioritizing routes for resurfacing, such as condition, traffic volumes and maintenance requirements.

“While the gravel section of Camp McKinney Road is not included in our 2018 plans, it is on the ministry’s list for future hard surfacing,” Trevena wrote.

She noted that council’s request will be balanced with other pressing needs in the region that also require funding.

The minister said her staff will continue to monitor the condition of the road and work with maintenance contractors to ensure it remains in drivable condition.
