Special to the Chronicle

The Oliver Tennis Club is off and running for a new tennis season.

The club’s season opener was held on Saturday, April 14 and 42 members signed up to join.

The club offers league play for men’s doubles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles to augment the standard tennis “drop in” times.

The club is excited to offer several new tennis programs this season, including a “Stroke of the Week” clinic held on Saturday mornings, and a “Hacker’s Night” offered in conjunction with Oliver Parks and Recreation on Tuesday evenings.

Hackers Night is an opportunity for new and existing players to either get into the game of tennis or brush up on your game through learning fundamental skills of the game.

George Lea, a fully certified level 3 tennis instructor, is one of the club’s new club members. George will be leading the clinics and is also available for individual instruction. As in prior years, tennis club members are involved in coaching the SOSS tennis team.

With all of that, plus monthly “fun days” and the annual fall tournament, this year is shaping up to be the best for tennis at the Oliver tennis courts.

New members are always welcome and anyone interested in joining the Oliver Tennis Club can visit the Oliver Parks & Recreation website at www.oliverrecreation.ca/oliver-tennis-club or contact the club directly at olivertennis97@gmail.com.
