Police and fire officials are still investigating last night’s mobile home fire on Ryegrass Road, but no injuries were reported.

The home south of Orchard Grove Lane was being lived in, but there were were no clear indications if anyone was home at the time, according to Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham.

“Due to the intensity of the fire, it was initially an exterior attack until it was safe for fire crews to enter and search the home. “

Graham said multiple searches were made of the home but no one was found.

The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived just before 8 p.m. Monday night. Most of the home was gutted by the time the fire was out.

Fire officials are on scene this morning investigating the cause.

Sgt. Blaine Gervais of the Oliver RCMP said the fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen area of the home.

RCMP are searching for the home’s current renter, Dale Watts, age 38.

“Dale Watts has been living in the Oliver area since September and has no phone or vehicle,” Gervais said.

RCMP is asking that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Watts contact any RCMP detachment.
