An Oliver man who loves dogs has been appointed as the regional district’s animal control officer.
Wayne Belleville was appointed to the position on last week during the board’s regular meeting.
Belleville, who has dogs of his own, currently performs animal control enforcement duties for the Town of Oliver.
The regional district recently rescinded the appointment of animal control officer Donald Lowndes, who worked for South Okanagan Security Services.
Since then, the company hired a new employee (Belleville) and requested that he be appointed to the position.
Rosa Aylwin, the district’s bylaw enforcement coordinator, said she believes there may be some benefit in using the same officer at the Town of Oliver.
