A priority offender believed to be responsible for a series of break and enters in the South Okanagan is now behind bars.

On August 8, members of the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional RCMP Detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) located and arrested Ian James MacDonald, 38, wanted for theft, including a vehicle earlier that morning.

TEU Members were provided information of his whereabouts being in the south end of Penticton. After a short struggle, in which MacDonald resisted arrest, he was taken into custody.

MacDonald is facing a number of new property related charges, and is no stranger to the law with over 100 criminal convictions.

“It’s not often you come across a bad guy with that horrendous a record. He is a very brazen criminal so obviously it’s a relief getting this guy off the streets,” said Cpl. Scott VanEvery of the TEU.
