LETTER: Oliver Theatre goes above and beyond

I am writing this in hopes to shed some light on the new ownership of the Oliver Theater.

I am from the Okanagan area and I understand the importance of small town living and how important it is to keep the small local businesses alive and thriving.

My husband was raised in Oliver from the time he was four years old and one of his fondest childhood memories of the theatre was going to watch Honey I Shrunk the Kids and remembering the smell of the popcorn.

When we found out that the new owners intended to keep the theatre running as it always has, we were thrilled.

Recently, our daughter wanted to have her birthday party include a movie at the theatre and Lyle and Kandise were more than accommodating. Not only did they assist in planning which day and time would be best, but they also offered us an opportunity to take part in their “party rate” which included a private viewing for our party at an affordable rate. We received a follow- up call from Kandise making sure we were okay and still on our way on the day of our party (it’s difficult to corral eight 13-year-old kids), and when our group arrived we found balloons to mark our spot in the theatre and wonderful friendly staff ready to assist us in getting settled.

It was such a positive experience. I will be looking to book with them again in the future, and wanted Oliverites to know what a wonderful job the new owners are doing so far.

Bravo Lyle and Kandise Miller, and thank you for making our daughter’s 13th birthday seamless. It is much appreciated!

Amanda Irman, Oliver
