The South Okanagan Similkameen Preservation Society is providing a public information night on the national park reserve on April 23 at 6:45 p.m. at the Sonora Centre in Osoyoos.

A request was made with Parks Canada to provide a speaker to represent the Parks Canada perspective.  This request was made Thursday April 4th with a requested response deadline of Monday (end of day) April 8th.  A reply from a Parks Canada assistant in Ottawa was received by the SOSPS stating that the invitation was acknowledged.  However, no confirmation of participation from any Parks Canada representative has been provided to date.

The SOSPS is steadfast in its pursuit to present a fair and reasonable dialogue, but Parks Canada’s decision to ignore this invitation, and be inconsiderate of the other speakers who will be at the event is indicative of their “stonewalling” this topic.  Unless the discussion and narrative is fully controlled and mandated by Parks Canada, they are not interested in facts or opinions that are contrary to what have been their talking points.  For a Government that is trying to improve their presentation of transparency and accountability, this is a poor representation of those goals.
