Hospital reno info session

A new separate entrance for walk-in patients is just part of a $1.25-million upgrade to the Emergency Department at South Okanagan General Hospital. The SOS Medical Foundation is raising $280,000 for the project and will host a public information meeting on May 29 at the Oliver Community Centre.

South Okanagan residents are invited to learn more about the upcoming $1.25-million renovation to the Emergency Department at South Okanagan General Hospital.

A public information session will be held Wednesday, May 29 at 2 p.m. at the Oliver Community Centre, hosted by the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation. What was originally a $970,000 upgrade has been bolstered by the Medical Foundation’s commitment to raise $280,000 for additional equipment and enhancements suggested by hospital staff.

There will be a short video presentation and medical staff will be on hand to explain the improvements. Coffee and snacks will also be provided.

The SOGH project includes a separate Emergency Department entrance for walk-in patients, new waiting and triage areas, a quiet room for families, the relocation of admitting and administration services and other upgrades. There will also be new exterior directional signage to the Emergency Department.

Construction is scheduled to start soon and be completed by late December. The SOGH Emergency Department will remain open during the renovations.
