Funnyman Derek Edwards is bringing his Alls I’m Sayin’ Tour to the Frank Venables Theatre.
Although his jokes aren’t overly offensive, “You can’t go to a clog dance wearing flip flops,” he says, “someone’s gonna step on your toes.”
Despite the impact of the MeToo movement, Edwards says it’s still easy to crack good jokes without upsetting his audience.
“People think we’ve been overrun by the politically correct again.”
But he said people who attend comedy shows usually know what to expect.
“If you’re getting a laugh out of people, then a good joke won’t hurt people’s feelings.”
For many jokes though, Edwards himself will be the butt-end.
“I have every right in the world to make fun of myself.”
Edwards is currently touring all across Canada, and he’ll be fine-tuning his show as he makes his way westbound.
“The mountain people. It’s different elk. The B.C. way of seeing things is unique – and I try to come in and relate.”
Described as “a sniper with the hiccups, Edwards takes aim at life’s galling moments, exhales slowly and jerks back the trigger. A riotous evening of homegrown comedy – like taking a ride in an open golf cart with a good friend and a six-pack.”
The show is this Sunday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $47.50.
