Oliver’s irrigation turn-off and canal shut-down dates have been set.

At their Sept. 24 meeting, council approved the irrigation turn-off date as Tuesday, Oct. 9, and the canal cease diversion date as Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Director of Operations Shawn Goodsell said people will be charged $1.65 per day/per acre for late water access. Last year there were 30 requests for late water, he noted.

Talk then turned to the irrigation canal fix (at Gallagher Lake), with Mayor Ron Hovanes noting that local MP Richard Cannings is meeting with a federal representative to discuss the need for funding to repair the previously damaged siphon.
