Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 24 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, with no new cases recorded in the Interior Health region.

The total of 195 is holding strong in the Interior Health region. Fraser Health continues to have the highest number of cases with 1,307 followed by Vancouver Coastal Health with 904, Vancouver Island with 127 and Northern Health with 64.

Another outbreak was declared over, bringing the total number of outbreaks in long-term care and acute care facilities down to 14 in B.C. There were no new outbreaks recorded over the weekend.

The total number of cases in the province is now 2,597 with 85 percent of cases fully recovered. One additional death occurred over the two-day period.

This weekend also saw the Your Future, Your Story survey close. Over 350,000 British Columbians participated.

“Thank you, to everybody who did that,” said Dr. Henry. “This is important and valuable feedback that will help us understand the impacts that the restrictions and the pandemic and COVID have had on our communities across this province and will help shape our reaction and our responses going forward.”

Dr. Henry expressed slight concern over continued community transmission of the virus. She said that this weekend’s numbers show that although we are moving along carefully and slowly, we “are not out of the woods yet.”
