Two local educators have been voted #1 in the best teacher and coach category in the Chronicle’s “Best Of Oliver” awards.

In a recent survey of readers, Oliver Elementary School teacher Marji Basso was voted best teacher, while her husband Maurizio (“Mo”) Basso from Southern Okanagan Secondary School was voted best coach.

Both teachers inspire their students to be the best they can be. Marji teaches Grade 6  while Mo teaches History Through Film, Social Studies 9 & 10, and History 12. He is also one of the most popular basketball coaches in the South Okanagan.

This summer the Bassos are planning to teach in Egypt for a year. How cool is that?

Another teacher who won a “Best of Oliver” award is Lori Martine from Oliver Elementary School.
