REMEMBERING JMAEFF GEORGE VICTOR from Osoyoos, BC
August 14, 1945 -March 1, 1969
Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 3d Marine Division (Reinforced). George was killed in Action March 1, 1969 in Quảng Trị Province in central Vietnam. He was known as “Canada” throughout the regiment for his bravery and fighting spirit. His valor was recognized posthumously with the Navy Cross; the highest medal given by the U.S. Marines. One of only 368 listed Marine Navy Cross recipients during the Vietnam War. Through his courage, aggressive fighting spirit and unwavering devotion to duty, Corporal Jmaeff upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
It has been fifty years George, but your bravery has not been forgotten. You were the archetypal warrior.
