After failing to meet his curfew Tuesday evening, an Oliver man has been arrested and is facing charges.

On August 1 Oliver RCMP located and arrested local resident Tyler Newton after conducting a curfew check on his residence the previous evening and finding him not at home.

During the arrest police located a weapon on Newton which also put him in breach of his recognizance. Through further investigation evidence was also obtained tying Newton to a theft from the Oliver area.

Newton has been charged with failure to comply with a condition of an undertaking or recognizance and two counts of theft under $5000.

Newton will appear in Penticton Court today.
