Construction of the much-anticipated Small Wheels Park in Oliver is officially scheduled to begin Oct. 22. And everyone is invited.

The “Demolition Day” event in Lion’s Park will start at 12:15 p.m., ending with a special luncheon at 1 p.m. at the community centre.

The project to revitalize the skatepark in Lion’s Park has been made possible by a $100,000 BCAA Play Here contest that Oliver Parks and Recreation won in July. This was matched by the Regional District of the Okanangan-Similkameen and supported by other community partners, such as the Kiwanis Club of Oliver.

More than 250 employees of BCAA Play Here are coming to Oliver on Oct. 22 to celebrate the new park’s ground-breaking.

Local dignitaries and members of the public are also invited to the event, which will be a “fantastic opportunity to help celebrate this major gift to Oliver kids and youth,” says Oliver Parks and Recreation.

RSVP your attendance for both the ground-breaking and the luncheon to Carol Sheridan at or by calling 250-498-4985.
