Move over Simon Cowell and Howie Mandell, because “Oliver’s Got Talent” and the organizers of the 2016 Oliver Sunshine Festival are inviting youth aged 8-15 to show their stuff at the upcoming auditions.
“The youth talent show was definitely the crowd favourite last summer” reflects this festival organizer. “So we are thrilled to bring it back for this year’s festival and cannot wait to once again showcase the very talented youth of Oliver.”
Last year’s acts included vocal and instrumental performances as well as different styles of dance.
The show is not limited to traditional performances, however, and could include anything from stand-up comedy to spoken word to magic tricks. Youth may audition as individuals or with others.
The Oliver’s Got Talent show will take place right after the Sunshine Festival Parade on Saturday, July 9 and will feature up to 12 unique performances by local youth between the ages of 8 and 15 years. Acts will be chosen from the auditions by a panel of judges who will be looking for stage readiness, crowd appeal, variety/uniqueness and strong delivery.
Anyone with a talent that could be performed on the Community Stage who fall within the age range is invited to audition, all abilities and experience are welcome.
Auditions will be held Saturday, June 25 from 9-11 a.m. at the Oliver Community Centre. When the youth arrive they will be asked to fill out a registration form that will require parental consent and will be assigned an audition number. Youth are strongly encouraged to come prepared to perform and to bring everything they will be using for their performance such as background music, proper footwear, costume, equipment or props.
