Runners participated in the annual Wine Capital of Canada Race on Sunday morning.
The race featured two events, a 10 kilometre run and a 3 kilometre run, and was hosted by Oliver Parks and Recreation.
The 10km race looped around Oliver’s hike and bike trail, along the Okanagan River, and the 3km race went around Oliver Community Park.
Kyle Fossett, Parks and Recreation’s recreation assistant said the race was easy to organize, thanks to the help of returning volunteers.
“They’re all regulars,” he said. “They know what they’re doing.”
With rain falling for most of Saturday, Fossett found the dry, but still gloomy, weather was a relief.
“Yesterday was too wet, too ugly.”
But regardless of the weather, Fossett said the Wine Capital of Canada race is anticipated by many local runners.
“They’re excited because it starts their running season.”
