The University of Alberta Mixed Chorus (UAMC) has spent 74 years touring across Canada and now they’re making a stop in Oliver.
On Tuesday, May 1 the choir, a non-profit student-run organization, will take the stage at the Oliver Alliance Church.
The concert is hosted by the SOSS Enrichment Fund Society, who the funds will be going towards.
All proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards providing 27 graduating students from SOSS in June with a total of $21,500 in scholarships.
Along with hosting the show, the Society is securing billets for the 47 singers, providing a dinner and lunch and arranging for activities for the university students to do while visiting Oliver.
The performance will be the choir’s third in Oliver over the past 12 years.
Their setlist features a range of choral music including classical arrangements, folk songs and Broadway medleys.
They’ll be joined by the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Education Handbell Ringers, both in accompaniment to the choir and as a featured group.
The UAMC is also hosting a children’s musical program the following morning at Tuc-El-Nuit Elementary School.
The concert is on Tuesday, May 1 at the Oliver Alliance Church at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and free for students.
