The Young Agrarians group is all about connecting farmers and on June 10 that’s what they’ll do in Oliver.
The national organization is hosting three Farm Tour & Potluck events in the South Okanagan this spring, one of which is at Oliver’s Forbes Farm on June 10.
The events aim to bring farmers together to connect, learn from each other and build community.
The Farm Tours and Potlucks are open to people of all ages, whether they’re seasoned farmers, new farmers, foodies or the farm-curious.
Forbes Farm is on 13 acres in Oliver and is a diverse operation of vegetables, tree fruits, berries, herbs, nuts, apiary and livestock.
The farm was the first in the Okanagan to plant almonds and now the trees are in full production at 12-14 years old.
Farmers Gord and Steven will give a tour of the farm and talk about their wetland conservations and production methods and practices.
The event starts with the tour of the farm, located at 6722 Meadows Drive, at 4 p.m., followed by a potluck dinner at 5:30. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share, their own utensils and a plate, a chair or blanket and their family or friends.
The tour also includes events at Farmers Dotter organic farm and Organic Only, both in Cawston.
