Nothin’ But Net (NBN) Basketball Camp is back in Oliver for the 16th summer.
Since 2002, former National Team member and ex-professional basketball player Spencer McKay has returned to his home town of Oliver to share his incredible knowledge and experience with local kids.
Currently coaching at UBC, McKay is regarded as one of Canada’s top player-development coaches. The camp is not only designed to improve individual basketball skills, but more importantly, to have fun.
NBN has produced several college and professional players over the years. Notable NBN alumni include WNBA star Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (New York Liberty), former SOSS superstar Jas Gill (UBC Thunderbirds and Waterloo Warriors), Mark Jacobs (Worcester Wolves, British Professional Basketball League), and former SOSS stars Ashley McGinnis (UVic Vikes), Emily Jentch (UVic Vikes), and Greet Gill (Capilano University Blues).
Each summer, McKay brings with him a special guest coach to enhance the experience of the campers.
This year’s guest coach is UBC Thunderbirds all-rookie point guard Mason Bourcier. Originally from Kelowna, Bourcier is one of the top young players in the country and was heavily recruited by many NCAA Division 1 schools before deciding to attend UBC. Bourcier will be an excellent addition to NBN this year.
NBN goes from July 3-6 at Southern Okanagan Secondary School and is both fun and challenging for kids of all skill levels. The cost of the camp is $135 for children in Grade 3-12.
Along with top-notch instruction, campers get a T-shirt, a Baden basketball to keep, unlimited Gatorade hydration, tons of prizes and a pizza party on the last day.
