This Wednesday, Canadian author and broadcaster Jay Ingram is coming to Oliver to address a topic that impacts many people: Alzheimer’s disease.
On March 21 at 7 p.m., Ingram will be at the Frank Venables Theatre to answer the three most common questions on Alzheimer’s Disease: Will I get it? Can I reduce my chances of getting it? If I do get it, what then? Ingram will also answer questions from the audience.
“2018 might be in the middle of a turning point in dealing with Alzheimer’s disease,” Ingram said.
“Not so much by the arrival of dramatic new treatments – that is still likely to take a few years – but instead by continuing to encourage all of us to take steps to reduce our risk of the disease. There are hints that such steps might already be having an effect.”
The event is hosted by Interior Savings, Interior Health and the University of British Columbia, Okanagan’s Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention.
Every March the groups come together to celebrate Okanagan Embrace Aging Month by hosting seminars, workshops and other events, covering a wide range of topics focused on inspiring ways to age well.
The event is free to attend and tickets are still available through OkanaganEmbraceAging.com.
