Things got spiritual in the Oliver Community Centre on Saturday.
The venue was host to Oliver’s first Market, featuring card readers, healers and just about everything in between.
Organizer Patti Seidler, a local card reader, intuitive life coach and essential oil coach, decided to address a need for a spiritual market in Oliver.
She noticed that, even though Oliver has an interested community, all markets and expos were in Penticton or Kelowna.
“There’s a lot of people that are looking for these kinds of services – tarot card readers, palm readers, just people that are tapped into all things spiritual,” she said.
“We have a huge spiritual community here and so I got the idea and put it together.”
Despite a short, “hectic” planning and advertising period, Seidler said she was pleased with the turnout: 17 vendors, including palm readers, healers, card readers, a massage therapist and essential oils, jewellery and skin care vendors.
“There’s so many talented people and creative people and people that are so tapped into other things and I just think it’s important that our community has access to those services as well.”
Seidler already has plans for a second market in the works, tentatively in October. She wants to do two a year: one in the spring and one in the fall.
“This is such a beautiful setting here at the community centre; I would like to see it spread out into the park, some stuff at the bandstand and have vendors outside in tents doing reading and those kinds of things. That’s my long-term vision.”
