On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at the age of 79, Evelyn Agnes Valentine of Oliver, BC, passed away peacefully at McKinney Place Extended Care.
Evelyn willA be fondly remembered by her loving family, including children John (Tony) Martin, Timothy Martin, Kathryn Martin and Kelly Martin; brothers Arnold Valentine and Bernard Valentine; sisters Holly Valentine and Valerie Stickland, as well as many extended family and friends.
Evelyn lived briefly in Glentworth, SK, where she was born, and then continued her adventure, at various times, in Manitoba, Alberta, Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland and the South Okanagan Valley.
Evelyn loved the time she spent serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1958 – 1961. During her colourful life, she also worked as a homemaker, milliner, seamstress, artist, baker, chef, musician and commissionaire.
She was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus with all her heart, and attended and volunteered at a number of churches in the Okanagan Valley and Vancouver Island.
Evelyn had a passion for music, and spent her summers traveling to Bluegrass festivals all over British Columbia. She played piano and guitar and loved to sing at church, as well as open mics at restaurants and other public venues. Two of her favorite songs to perform were “Oh Holy Night” & “Count Your Blessings.”
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to Anna Grabreck, Jenel Young, Daniel Bates and the staff at McKinney Place for all they did to make Evelyn’s final days more comfortable.
